Mandarin Shape Games for Preschoolers
A listening and shape-matching activity for Mandarin-speaking and bilingual families with children ages 3-6. Hear a Mandarin shape name and tap the matching outline, starting with a circle and a square. Mandarin play opens Chinese game text and Mandarin prompts. Start together; reading Chinese or speaking aloud is not required.
Exiting a Mandarin game opens the game library in your saved site language, or Chinese if no language is saved.
Start with Beginner
Beginner offers a circle and a square. First help your child connect the Mandarin words to the outlines; this game asks them to choose a shape, not trace it or assemble a puzzle. Check the settings on the start screen before playing.
With question count set to Auto, Beginner, Easy and Normal end after 4, 6 and 8 correct choices. Saved question count and sound settings still apply; check them on the start screen and turn voice prompts on.

Parent Tips
- Point around the circle and square once and name them before asking your child to choose independently.
- Replay the prompt if the Mandarin word is unfamiliar; recognizing an outline is different from understanding its name.
- Away from the screen, offer a round coaster and a square piece of paper. Name one in Mandarin and ask your child to point to it, then swap their positions.
- Add more shapes only when two choices feel comfortable. If squares and rectangles are confusing, return to fewer choices.
